Elise McCune ![]() Artist's Statement The
objective of this piece was to transform a particular space and make it
visually interesting. The space I chose was the park area behind Davis
Hall, a large, open area with park benches. This area was ideal
because of the quiet atmosphere surrounding it. The images of the nude
mannequins bearing masks in this area are intended to be visually
shocking; thus, the environment and images are largely contrasting,
creating a total transformation of the park area into something
visually and cognitively stimulating. The green background text on the
poster is a poem, included to encourage further analyzation from the
viewer. The bold, black text is less coy, directly qestioning the
person reading it. This poster is intended to target each individual
viewing it, focusing on our tendency as humans to hide from what we
really are, from others and overall, ourselves.
