Mistake Reel Speech

2004 5 feet x 1.5 feet x 1.5 feet Wood, typewriter mistake reel, and audio recording of reading mistake reel from artist's employment that emits from the microphone This work presents the scenario of self-effacing speech when attempting to present oneself in a professional manner. The correction reel records several months' worth of my own mistakes at my current employer, Northern Illinois University's Rare Books and Special Collections. The audio is a recording of my reading the tape aloud: a meekly read, dull speech focusing on my faults. As I prepare for job interviews, this work purges me of divulging insecurities to others.
